A trip down memory lane: the history of the Body Mind Spirit Tourism Forum

The Body Mind Spirit Tourism Forum, originally the brainchild of Sheryl Ozinsky, was founded towards the end of 2004, by a group of motivated, like-minded individuals with an interest in holistic living, as well as tourism. The founder sponsors were: the earthwaterfireair festival, Enchantrix, Biophile magazine and Odyssey magazine.
The goals of the BMSTF were:
  • To develop and promote South Africa as a holistic travel destination to local and overseas visitors.
  • To offer information on what to do, where to stay and who to contact for therapies, massages and extraordinary experiences.
  • To organise numerous events for likeminded people to learn, interact and expand body, mind and soul
We started by showing the movie: Indigo in January 2005. Then the popular Holistic Supper Clubs at Erin Hall started where we hosted many fascinating speakers such as : Rod Suskin; Chris Reid Ntombemhlope; Marie- Noelle Anderson; Sharyn Spicer; Annie Hennop; Bruce Copely; Jeffrey Rink; a panel of speakers, Thian Combrink, Lionel Davis, Dean Liprini. with panel host Africa Melane from Cape Talk and Radio 702; Mandy Young; Judy Bekker and Valerie Morris; Dean Liprini; Soozi Holbeche; Habitat for humanity and the Soccer World Cup for the Homeless; Christopher Tokalon; Andrew Freedman; and lastly Bernie Prior from New Zealand, this time at Novalis since our home Erin Hall had sadly burnt down.
The BMSTF organised a magical concert with Jennifer Ferguson – Medicine woman;
A number of fascinating films were screened in co-operation with Exploring Consciousnessfilmfest and Intuition Network at Erin hall and at the Labia on Orange.

The BMSTF developed and distributed a body mind spirit map 2006/2007 for Cape Town and surrounds. We also ran a membership programme for guesthouses, places of interest, practitioners, tour operators etc. to advertise their services on our website, and at our events, as well as at the Waterfront Wellness fairs, Celebrate Life and Cape Town Tourism events and Centres. Members could also network and share, as well as advertise special tours, events and workshops through the BMSTF newsletter. We had a total of 60 members, in addition to the very loyal committee members (Bryan Hansen, Celeste & Massimo Ponzi, Chris Reid Ntombemhlope, Christel Engelbrecht, Dean Liprini, Iain McDonald, Jana Krejci, Jasmin Johnson, Kerry Hammerton, Liz Sykes, Lionel Davis, Lucille Luckhoff, Sheryl Ozinski) who did all the work on a voluntary basis.

Robin and Nadine have every intent to promote all the above activities and give members an oppertunity to have a voice in Cyberspace.
