Matter of Heart (107 min):  The extraordinary journey of CG Jung into the soul of man

This is a compelling and inspiring film portrait of Carl Gustav Jung, a man whose extraordinary genius and humanity reached far beyond the sometimes exclusive realm of psychiatry. Jung comes to life as analyst, healer, friend and mentor through the skilful interweaving of archival material, rare home movies and a wealth of interviews with those close to him including Marie-Louise von Franz, Aniela Jaffe, Barbara Hannah , Laurens van der Post.

Double Feature (51 min): Face to Face  Professor Jung – the famous 1959 BBC interview with John Freeman (1959) plus CG Jung at Bollingen Retreat (1951)

My name was Sabina Spielrein (Sweden, 2002, 90 min)

Fascinating docudrama on the hidden history of psychoanalysis.

A surprising find of letters and diaries in a basement in Switzerland 30 years after her death at the hands of Nazis revealed a passionate love affair between the 29-year old Carl Jung and his first patient: Sabina Spielrein.  Sabina became a psychiatrist herself and aided both Jung and Freud in their discoveries. Letters and photographs are combined with dramatic re-enactments to offer a mesmerising and most poignant portrait of an important woman lost in a history of psychoanalysis penned by men.
